Projects
The Peachland Sportsmens Association (PSA) has completed numerous projects over the past 20 years, including:
- working with BC Ministry of Environment to stock Shannon Lake with hatchery rainbow trout for kid's fishing in the spring.
- sponsoring Fishing Forever at Heritage Park in Peachland each year.
- vegetation restoration along Trepanier Creek in 2002, as part of the Peachland Communities in Bloom competition.
- stream enhancement project at Eneas Lake in 2001 to improve fish passage to Finlay Creek. The final report shows the original condition of the spillway, along with a plan of the proposed works. Two photos from spring, 2002 show the spillway and the creekbeed freshet, following completion of the work.
- brush cutting in the Antlers Saddle area to improve habitat for wintering herds of deer to better their chances for survival
- deer and sheep counts and provision of funding to ensure aerial counts for game are done
- construction of a wildlife fence along Highway 97 between Summerland and Peachland, working together with the Summerland Sportsman Association and various levels of government
- construction of hatchery boxes, gravel washing, addition of spawning gravel, construction of a fish ladder and spawning platforms on Powers Creek
- fish counts on Deep Creek, and providing funds for interpretive tours of kokanee spawning runs for school children
